Surveys!
12 days ago – Wed, May 27, 2026 at 10:00:21 AM

Hi again everyone!

Just a quick note to let you know, we sent the surveys to each and every one of you so please be looking for them.

Thank you to the folks who already submitted your info.

The word “survey” is a little misleading but it’s a Kickstarter thing. What it really is is a (mandatory) form for you to tell us your mailing address, and pay for shipping.

We like to charge shipping via a third party software because it saves you money and helps us work more efficiently to get your rewards out.

Any tech troubles, let us know and we’ll find someone at Backerkit to help.

Thank you! Won’t be long now until you get your Lantern Oracle decks!!

IMPORTANT:

If you cannot access your survey, the easiest thing to do is to log into BackerKit by following this link:

A special message just for our Apple users
28 days ago – Mon, May 11, 2026 at 08:52:54 AM

Hi everyone, all 1,000 of you...

Apologies for writing to all 1,000 of you just to reach 23 people, but it's the only way.

Which 23 people am I looking for?

The ones who log into Kickstarter not with an email but with their Apple ID.

Why does this matter?

Because I'm telling you now, you won't get anything in the mail unless we fix this.

I know, I know.

Why does Kickstarter have this function if it doesn't allow me to get my rewards?

Heck if I know.* But we're going to work around it.

How do I provide you w/ my actual email?

To fix this and ensure your actual email is the one on file, you essentially need to "promote" your account to a standard email/password login.

1.  Log in to Kickstarter (using your Apple ID for the last time).

2.  Go to your Settings:

3.  On Web: Click your profile icon (top right) → SettingsAccount.
On Mobile: Tap the profile icon → Gear icon → Account.

4.  Look for the Email section. Since you are linked to Apple, you should see an option to "Change Email" or "Disconnect Apple ID."

5.   Enter your actual email address.

6.  Check your inbox: Kickstarter will send a verification to your chosen email address. Follow the link in that email to set a new password. Log back in: You can now log in using your standard email and the password you just created.

Please reach out to us either way

Just in case the connection to BackerKit, our shipping software, has already pulled in your non-functional AppleID mask, just reach out and let us know you're on top of this and that you still want the reward you pledged for.

Drop us a line either through the messages on Kickstarter (NOT THE PUBLIC COMMENTS), with your update, and be sure to include your preferred email just so we can check in and make sure it's all working.

(I'm just the Messenger! Trying to help!)

thank you,

Stacey, collaborator and pledge manager

*  It is a common headache with "Sign in with Apple." When you use that feature, Apple  creates a unique @privaterelay.appleid.com email address. While this protects your privacy, it also "hides" you from project creators.

The "Land" deck is ON PRESS! *surveys coming soon*
about 1 month ago – Mon, May 04, 2026 at 01:36:46 PM

Hi everyone!

Thanks again for backing the Lantern: A New England Folk Oracle set. Stacey here, and I have some great news and updates for you all.

The Land Deck is on Press

All of the cards are complete, all of the checks are done, and the book is complete, edited and formatted. April was a whirlwind of activity, and we are so relieved to have sent the assets to our trusty printer to have that first sample made.

The stickers were the easiest and so they're done already... but the rest takes time to manufacture. Luckily we are right on schedule.

The BackerKit surveys are coming

Later this month, you’ll receive an email from us with a special link to your BackerKit survey.

It’s mandatory to respond to your survey, because we need your information and shipping fees to fulfill your rewards.

You don’t need to create a BackerKit account to fill out your survey. It's tied to your Kickstarter pledge.

When you receive the email with the survey, click the survey link to respond. Answer the questions about your reward preferences, provide shipping information, and pay for your shipping rate. You don’t have access to this survey link yet, but it will be available soon via email!

After you respond to your survey, you can go back later and change your responses at any time before we close the surveys and get our final counts.

If you need to review your information or pledge status, you can return to your survey by clicking the link in your survey email or requesting your survey link under "Lost your survey?" on our BackerKit project page at https://the-lantern-oracles.backerkit.com/

If you used your Facebook credentials to log in to your account, the BackerKit survey is sent to the email address you use for your Facebook account. If you have another email address that you prefer to use, please contact support at https://the-lantern-oracles.backerkit.com/

Pre-Order Page to Share

If you know someone who didn't pledge but wants to order one of Laura's fantastic decks, please share the pre-order page for us! We are still early enough in the manufacturing process to add more decks to our order.

YOU DID IT, & we’re totally making that coin!!!
2 months ago – Thu, Apr 02, 2026 at 07:10:33 AM

Thank you all so much!! We are so grateful and encouraged by the support that this campaign received. Thank you for backing the work of a real human artist and author— versus some AI bot. Thank you for sending all those words of encouragement… and even the passionate cries for changes showed us how much this work means to you. We are genuinely thankful.

This project surpassed our studio’s previous records, which is no surprise when you consider that it was the stupendously awesome Laura Tempest Zakroff (crowd chants “L-T-Z! L-T-Z!!”)

And so what if it wasn’t exactly 100K on the nose!? Hunh? We’re still forging that coin!!! 😆👏😆👏
Love you guys!

Choose Your Adventure!
2 months ago – Fri, Mar 27, 2026 at 04:52:14 PM

Hello everyone! LTZ here - I continue to be blown away by the support for this project. We're less than a week away from wrapping up and close to 90K - that's phenomenal. THANK YOU!!

We've got one more stretch goal to meet at 100K, which means that the beautifully designed Land/Sea Choice coin will be unlocked. But wait, there could be more - and I need your help in crafting it!

If we break 100K, I'd like to add two more cards to each deck - extending the number of cards to 50, meaning  100 cards total when you combine the decks!

For the Sea deck, I want to break out two concepts that I ended up putting as part of the locales imagery, and bring them back into being cards entirely on their own: Chowder (chowdah!) and Seaside Sweets. I had made that decision partly because I had so many ideas for the Sea deck, so I combined ideas to keep as much as possible. But the other reason is that unlike the Land deck where the market/food category settled nicely into its own group, there's a lot of sea life that doubles as both for many people. But much of their folklore focuses on the lives and histories of these creatures, so it felt weird to me. By being able to add these 2 bonus cards, chowder and treats form their own special category. That feels really good and fits in nicely with the whole of the deck.

However, for the Land deck, I have THREE ideas and I need your help on getting it down to 2. Let's vote!!

As we just had a landmark blizzard where we got 3 feet of snow where I live in Rhode Island, beating the measurements of the infamous Blizzard of '78, I was thinking that might be a fun card. (I promise it won't be all white, though that would be pretty funny!)

The second idea is a card that commemorates the Great Molasses Flood of Boston (1919). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Molasses_Flood (I promise it won't be just a card of molasses, it's a pretty heavy disaster card...but yet, so curious and bizarre...)

The third idea is inspired by the current season here in Rhode Island and has been the favorite of everyone I've talked too about it: The Pothole. For folks outside of the region, this may sound like a weird card and you probably think, "What's New England about a pothole? They're everywhere." But Pothole Season is a very specific occurrence that happens in early Spring. The mess of snow begins to melt and reveals so many potholes created by the plow trucks pulling out road plugs. It's quite treacherous, though often repaired fairly quickly. Until next time. Which in terms of an oracle definitely holds a lot of meaning.

I think we can break 100K and so I'm getting ready to make 4 more cards, and I'll need to get the two additional Land ones done ASAP as it will go to the printers first. So what will those cards be? Blizzard? Molasses Disaster? Pothole?  (yeah, they're all pretty brutal, but we're New England strong!)

Comment below with your vote!! It's okay to choose two—we can't wait to hear :)

  • Blizzard
  • Molasses Disaster
  • Pothole

Two notes:

1. The poll will only let you choose one, so you can comment with both if you have two you feel strongly about.
2. There is a Nor'easter card in the Sea deck, but it's a different feel and approach than Blizzard.

Thank you!
